If your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just won't launch or you're getting that frustrating ‘The application has unexpectedly stopped working’ error on PC in 2025, don’t worry — I’ve got you covered with all the working solutions in one video. 🔧

[STEP 1: RUN AS ADMIN & DISABLE FULLSCREEN OPTIMIZATIONS – 0:20]

📌 "First, let’s fix basic compatibility issues."

  1. Go to your MW2 installation folder (Usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Modern Warfare II)

  1. Right-click on cod.exe or codlauncher.exe → Properties

  1. Go to Compatibility tab

  1. Check Run this program as administrator

  1. Also check Disable fullscreen optimizations

  1. Click Apply and OK

[STEP 2: VERIFY GAME FILES (Steam/Battle.net) – 0:50]

📌 "Corrupted game files? Here’s how to fix them."

For Steam users:

  1. Open Steam Library

  1. Right-click MW2 → Properties

  1. Go to Installed Files → click Verify Integrity of Game Files

For Battle.net users:

  1. Open Battle.net launcher

  1. Go to MW2 → Click Gear icon → Scan and Repair

"Wait for it to complete — it’ll replace any damaged files."

• Once done downloading, you now need to extract the files using WinRAR – Download Here
• When its extracted, go into the new extracted folder and follow the video tutorial for step by step guide to apply the changes to your game.
