If you’re trying to launch a game and you keep seeing that annoying error message that says Shader Model 6.6 support not detected don’t worry—I’m going to show you exactly how to fix this step by step. This guide will work for any PC game in 2025, whether you’re playing the latest AAA titles or older games that were updated to require Shader Model 6.6.🔧

[Step 1 – Check Your GPU Compatibility]

First, you need to verify that your graphics card actually supports Shader Model 6.6.

✅ Here’s how:

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.

  2. Type dxdiag and press Enter.

  3. Click the Display tab.

  4. Look at the Feature Levels section.

✅ If your GPU doesn’t support at least DirectX 12_2, unfortunately, you will need a newer graphics card.

Popular GPUs that support Shader Model 6.6:

  • NVIDIA RTX 2000 Series and newer

  • AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series and newer
